2010 Captain: Josh Loyson
Soccer is without doubt the global game. At St George’s Prep, it is no different. It is the most popular boys’ sport in the winter months and is growing in interest with the girls.
We have six teams entered in the P.E. Schools City Zone League. Our soccer teams enjoyed a very successful 2009 season, with all our teams producing some outstanding results. They U13A team remained unbeaten in the league for the season. The U9 and U11A teams also had an excellent season. The U13B team had a wonderful tour to East London and were great ambassadors for our school.
Our U9 and U13 soccer teams were unbeaten in all local league fixtures during the second term of 2010.
Our coaches concentrate on individual skill development and the importance of teamwork. We also encourage participation and the enjoyment of the game. We are also fortunate enough to employ the services of several student coaches, which enable all our players to have small squad training.
Congratulations to Edwin Solms who represented Eastern Province at the Bill Stewart Tournament in Johannesburg in the June holidays of 2009.

2011 Report
The enthusiasm and positive attitude towards the most popular sport in the world was clearly displayed by the soccer players at St George’s Preparatory School in 2011. It was unfortunate that our winter was a very wet and rainy one, as many matches had to be postponed and cancelled, but great results were met nevertheless. The first soccer team did extremely well, as they were unbeaten in the league. The team also enjoyed a rather successful tour along the Garden Route, which included one game that was lost, two games that were drawn and one game which was won 7-0. The U9A soccer side also did well this past season, as only one game was lost in the whole of the first and second terms.
I would like to thank all the coaches that were involved in the success of the 2011 season, as well as all the parents for their constant help and support- it was much appreciated by the players!
