The Library is situated on the first floor of the original house, Knockfierna, the tiled fireplace and high ceilings lending it a studious, yet homely atmosphere.
It is run by a qualified librarian, Mrs R.Roth, who is assisted by library monitors and mothers.
The facilities include a book stock of approximately 4 000 volumes, two computers with Internet and CD ROM access for the pupils to use, magazines and a photocopier.
The library administration system is fully computerized. Pupils take out books for information and recreational reading. They are also given lessons on information skills.

Exclusive Books Kids’ Lit Quiz 2012.

St George’s Prep hosted the 8th Eastern Cape round of the International Exclusive Books Kids’ Lit Quiz on 14 February. Quizmaster Wayne Mills, a New Zealand lecturer at the University of Auckland, runs this quiz in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Australia and New Zealand. Our school hall buzzed with excitement as the 18 teams from 10 schools settled in for an afternoon of challenging questions on topics such as Cars, Myths and Legends, Royalty and Dogs in children’s literature.We would like to congratulate our Grade 7 team of Khanya Dambuza, Sarah Henderson, Shivendran Moodley and Jason Neilson, and our Grade 6 team of Vuyisa Dongwana, Blake Stephens, Rahul Singh and Shayan Saleem on representing our school at this event.
