| Kingshott pupils visit St George's - 2010 |
St George's Prep has run pupil exchange programmes with UK schools for a number of years. English schools participating in the 2010 exchange programme are Northcote Lodge, Holmewood House and Kingshott School.
Our initial pupil exchange programme was with Taverham Hall, an independent co-ed boarding and day school situated in a forest on the outskirts of Norwich. This programme came to an end in 2009.
2006 saw the launch of a second pupil exchange programme – with Northcote Lodge – an independent boys-only school located in south-west London. 2 boys from Northcote Lodge spent 3 weeks with us in February/March 2010, while 2 of our boys will spend 2 weeks at Northcote Lodge in September.
A third exchange programme with Holmewood House in Tunbridge Wells, Kent was introduced in March 2008, when we welcomed 7 pupils from this co-ed school. This exchange did not take place in 2009, but resumed in 2010 when 3 boys and 2 girls spent 2 weeks with us in March. 4 of our girls and 2 boys will reciprocate with a visit to Holmewood House in September.
2009 saw the inauguration of an exchange programme between St George's and Kingshott School, situated 40 minutes from London in Hitchin in Hertfordshire. 4 of our pupils will attend Kingshott in September and we shall in turn host Kingshott pupils in October.
The benefits of these pupil exchange programmes are far-reaching – our pupils are exposed to a new environment, a new way of life, different approaches to teaching and learning and they make life-long friends.
The Grade 7 pupils selected to go to England during September 2010 are:
David Harvey
Monet Hugo
Keyani Mitri
Ashleigh Mittens
Rohan Oosthuizen
Savannah Connacher
Megan van Wyk
Lungile Lallie
Jacolene Slabber
Sivu Tshefu
George Jensen
Megan Rothman
