Boys Hockey
2010 Captain : David Harvey
Boys hockey has come a long way at St George’s during 2009. We had two teams entered in the league. The U11 team was coached by Mr Malan and Mr Whitfield and Mr Glover coached the U13A team. Both teams had a successful season taking part in the A league. Although the competition was stiff, we still managed to win quite a few matches and provide competition against some of the bigger schools. The U13 team travelled to Cape Town to take on some of the top schools in the area. They performed extremely well, winning 5 out of the 7 matches played. Our 2009 captain, Brad James, and teammate Dillon Dorothy, must be congratulated on both being selected for the Eastern Province U13A team.
Congratulations also go to David Harvey and Josh Loyson who have both been selected for the Eastern Province U13 Hockey side for 2010.
Master-in Charge: Mr David Glover
2012 Captain : Daniel Gray
2011 Report
Boys hockey had a challenging season this year. The boys had a few different coaches and played some very difficult teams. However, they pulled together and showed great courage and determination in the last half of the season.
By the end of the season the players had matured into strategic thinkers on the field. Their game became more expansive and their defence tightened up tremendously. I want to thank the parents for their constant support, we greatly appreciated it!
A special thank you must go out to Guto Ocharo and Zukisa Biyana, as these two boys played a major role in getting the team to work together through their brilliant captaincy. The one result that stands out head and shoulders above the rest was the result against the Wynberg 1st Team. This was the boy’s best performance throughout the season and their hearts were broken by a goal only two minutes from time. This 1-0 loss was an amazing game to watch and congratulations must go out to the whole team.
I would like to thank everyone who played a role throughout the season and especially to the boys for a truly great year.
Mr Chris Stottelaar
